Three park districts, three separate seasons, and no single page that covers all of them — which is why this one exists. Named facilities below, sorted by city, with what each actually costs. The free ones are genuinely free: no gate, no pass, no quarters.
Fargo
Madison Pool & Splash PadA small neighborhood facility with a zero-depth spray-and-play area, plus a wading pool and a shallow swimming pool running 2½ to 4½ feet. The splash pad is inside pool admission, not free: $4.25 for 18 and under and $5.25 for adults in 2026, daily 12–4pm, and it closed for the season after 21 August. Shadow Wood Splash Pad3545 4th St E, and free — in their words, "This FREE splash park is open seven days a week." Open daily 9am–7pm from the end of May. It closes for lightning, thunder, rain and storms; the only temperature rule West Fargo publishes is for the restrooms, which open at 65° and above. Shadow Wood Park around it has a playground, basketball court, trails, restrooms and a shelter, so it works as a whole afternoon rather than a twenty-minute stopChecked September 23, 2026Visit ↗ Moorhead
Romkey Splash PadRomkey Park, 800 19 St S. Free and open to the public; its 2026 season ran 4 June to 7 September. Weather-dependent: the water runs when it's 60° and sunny or 65° and cloudy, so a cool morning means a wasted trip.
